BOARDS OF THE FACULTIES OF CLASSICS AND MEDIEVAL AND MODERN LANGUAGES

Changes in Regulations: corrigenda

The following corrections should be noted to the changes in regulations to the Preliminary Examination for Modern Languages, published in Gazette, 3 February 2005, p. 619.

The changes with effect from 1 October 2005 (for first examination in 2006) to the Preliminary Examination for Modern Languages, regarding Sophocles, Antigone; Aristophanes, Frogs; and Virgil, Aeneid should be:

'(b) Sophocles, Antigone 1–11141; Aristophanes, Frogs 1–268, 830–15331; Herodotus I. 1–95; (c) Virgil, Aeneid I, II, IV, VI1.

[i.e. it is not Antigone 1–11141: the last '1' is a superscript, and likewise for the other corrections.]

1 For the purposes of the essay paper (VII), candidates who offer these texts will be expected to have knowledge of the whole work and not merely the prescribed portions.'
