Changes in Regulations

Council has made the following changes in regulations, to come into effect on 20 May.

(a) College Contributions Fund

Endowment grants from the College Contributions Fund

The following amounts shall be paid to the college named in each case under the provisions of section 6 of Statute XV (Supplement (1) to Gazette No. 4633, 9 October 2002, p. 129) as grants for the enlargement of the permanent endowment of those colleges:

[This regulation authorises the endowment grants which Council has decided, on the recommendation of the college Contributions Committee, to make out of the accumulated balance of the college Contributions Fund. The sums listed under 'Endowment Grant I' are to be paid to the college concerned as soon as possible. The sums listed under 'Endowment Grant II' are maxima, the precise sum in each case to be determined according to the success with which each college has met certain conditions laid down by Council on the recommendation of the college Contributions Committee. ]


(b) Renaming of the Faculty of Modern History

1 In Council Regulations 16 of 2002, concerning Divisions (Supplement (2) to Gazette No. 4628, 26 June 2002, p. 1405, as amended on 24 February 2005, Gazette, Vol. 135, p. 686) delete existing regulation 4. (7) and substitute:

'4. (7) History;'.

2 In Council Regulations 17 of 2002, concerning Divisional Boards (Supplement (2) to Gazette No. 4628, 26 June 2002, p. 1409) delete existing regulation 14. (10)–(12) and substitute:

'14. (10)–(12) three persons elected by and from among the members of the Faculty of History;'.

3 In Council Regulations 19 of 2002, concerning Faculty Boards (Supplement (2) to Gazette No. 4628, 26 June 2002, p. 1412) delete existing regulation 1. (6) and substitute:

'1. (6) History;'.

8 In Council Regulations 5 of 2003, concerning the Museum of the History of Science (Gazette, Vol. 134, p. 138) delete existing regulation 2. (9) and substitute:

'2. (9) a person appointed by the Board of the Faculty of History;'.

9 In SCHEDULE A of Council Regulations 3 of 2004, concerning statutory professorships, delete 'Regius Professor of Modern History' and insert:

'Regius Professor of History'.

GENERAL PURPOSES COMMITTEE OF COUNCIL

Changes in regulations

The General Purposes Committee of Council has made the following changes in regulations, to come into effect on 20 May.

Classics Faculty Board

1 In Council Regulations 19 of 2002, concerning Faculty Boards (Supplement (2) to Gazette No. 4628, 26 June 2002, p. 1414) delete existing regulation 16 and substitute:

'16. The Board of the Faculty of Classics shall consist of:

(1), (2) the chairmen of each of the Sub-faculties of Ancient History and Classical Languages and Literature;

(3), (4) the directors of graduate studies in Ancient History and in Classical Languages and Literature;

(5)–(7) three persons elected by and from among the members of the Sub- faculty of Ancient History;

(8)–(10) three persons elected by and from among the members of the Sub- faculty of Classical Languages and Literature.'

2 These regulations shall be effective from 1 October 2006.

[These changes, made on the recommendation of the Classics Faculty Board, reduce the number of ex officio members and increase the number of elected members accordingly. ]
