¶ Members of Congregation are reminded that written notice of any intention to vote against, or any proposed amendment to, the legislative proposal below, signed in each case by at least two members of Congregation, must be given to the Registrar by noon on Monday, 20 June (see the note on the conduct of business in Congregation at the end of 'University Agenda').

Renaming the University's Non-Academic Staff
Explanatory noteThe following Legislative Proposal, submitted by Council under Part 2 of Congregation Regulations 2 of 2002 (Supplement (1) to Gazette No. 4633, 9 October 2002, Vol. 133, p. 161 as amended on 12 October 2004, Gazette Vol. 135, p. 214), which is promoted on the recommendation of the Personnel Committee, replaces the reference to non-academic staff with a reference to support staff, to more accurately describe the contribution of members of this staff group.
WHEREAS it is expedient to amend the reference to non-academic staff in Statute XIV, THE UNIVERSITY ENACTS AS FOLLOWS.
In Statute XIV (Supplement (1) to Gazette No. 4633, 9 October 2002) in sections 1. (1) and 1. (2) delete 'non-academic' and substitute 'support'.
Regulations to be made by Council if the Statute is approved1 In Council Regulations 1 of 2004, concerning Financial Regulations (Supplement (2) to Gazette No. 4691, 24 March 2004, p. 788), in regulations 32.1(1) and 32.1(2) delete 'non-academic' and substitute 'support'.
2 In Council Regulations 3 of 2004, concerning the Employment of University Staff (Supplement (1) to Gazette No. 4703, 14 July 2004, p. 1269), delete existing regulation 1. (2) and substitute:
'1. (2) departments and institutions, in respect of academic-related and support staff. (Support staff are those university employees who are not covered by the Visitatorial Board arrangements under Statute XII of the University Statutes.)'

support staff. ]
