Museum Volunteers Wanted

Every Sunday afternoon the Oxford University Museum of Natural History and the Pitt Rivers Museum hold 'Free, family friendly activities'. These activities include explorer backpacks, sorting boxes and trails devised by education staff. The afternoons are run by a team of volunteers. We are looking for new volunteers to work with our established team. We welcome whatever level of commitment you can give! Oxford University Newcomers' Club

The Club exists to welcome to Oxford the partners and families of academic visitors and graduate students. Come along to the Club Rooms at 13 Norham Gardens any Wednesday morning during term time, and during the summer vacation, from 10.30 a.m.–12 noon, to meet us and other Newcomers, and to make purchases at our second-hand equipment sotre. Museum of the History of Science: Librarian. Clerical and Library Grade C3: salary £12,997–£15,053. We are looking for a Librarian to run a small specialist library in the Museum of the History of Science. The postholder will have some library experience, good interpersonal skills, the ability to work on his/her own and as part of a team, a careful apporach to library material, attention to detail and basic computer skills. A knowledge of the History of Science is not required, although a background in science or history would obviously be useful. The Librarian post is a full-time appointment, but applicatns for part-time or job-share employment will be considered. The current working hours are 9 a.m. to 5.20 p.m. Mond. to Thurs., and 9 a.m. to 5.10 p.m. on Fri., with an hour for lunch and 34 days' paid holiday per year, including bank holidays. This is an interesting job in a small, friendly department.
