Oxford University Newcomers' Club

The Club welcomes the wives, husbands, and partners of visiting scholars, graduates and members of the University who are new to Oxford. It aims to offer help, advice and information, and the opportunity to meet others socially. Informal coffee mornings are held at 13 Norham Gardens every Wednesday in term, also on the Wednesday before term starts, the Wednesday after the end of term and during the summer holidays. Newcomers with children (0-4 years) meet every Friday in term from 10-15 a.m. to 12 midday. Other term time activities include a Book Group, informal Conversation Group, and tours to colleges, museums, and other places of interest, also country walks and garden trips. Centre for Scholarship and Christianity in Oxford, CCCU-UK (SCIO): Appointment of Senior Tutor Appointment of Programme and Operations Administrator. SCIO, a subsidiary of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities, works with Wycliffe Hall in organising programmes for American students studying in Oxford as an extension of their studies toward Bachelor degrees in America. Students take tutorials in History, English Language and Literature, Classics, Philosophy and Theology. The Senior Tutor must have suitable postgraduate qualifications and experience with Oxford colleges, must have teaching and research experience, and must possess appropriate administrative and communicative skills. The Senior Tutor will organise the academic programmes, advise students, tutor, and co-ordinate academic affairs in cooperation with Wycliffe; he or she might also participate in faculty development projects for American and other academics. The Programme and Operations Administrator will provide administrative support to the academic programmes, manage domestic matters, and provide bookkeeping. The successful candidate must have the requisite experience. The Centre seeks individuals who can identify with the aims and objectives of the CCCU and Wycliffe Hall.
