BRASENOSE COLLEGE
The person appointed will work in collaboration with the college's Fellows in Ancient History (Dr Edward Bispham) and Philosophy (Mr John Foster). Applicants should be competent to teach a number of the principal options available within the Faculty of Classics at the First and Second Public Examinations in Literae Humaniores. Letters of application, including a curriculum vitae and the names and addresses of two referees, should reach the Senior Tutor, Brasenose College, Oxford OX1 4AJ, no later than Wednesday, 3 March. Applicants should ask their referees to write to the Senior Tutor by the same date. Interviews for the post will take place in mid-March.

The fellowships are non-stipendiary, but include membership of the senior common room with free lunches and dinners, and research and entertainment allowances. Fellows are required to have a salaried post with a tenure of at least twelve months from the date of taking up the fellowship. The Senior Fellowship will run from 1 October 2004 for five years in the first instance but may be renewed at intervals thereafter provided the fellow continues to hold a salaried post. The Junior Fellowship will start on 1 October 2004 and, provided the fellow continues to hold a salaried post, will last for three years. Fellows will be encouraged, but not required, to undertake paid teaching of up to six hours a week and to participate in the life of the college. Neither fellowship may be held in conjunction with a fellowship at another Oxford college.

The deadline for applications is 12 March.

Candidates must normally be under the age of twenty-seven and graduates of a university or other institution of equivalent standing, or be expected to graduate by 1 October 2004. Candidates must be registered for a graduate degree at Oxford University.
