Oxford University Newcomers' Club

The Club welcomes the wives, husbands, and partners of visiting scholars, graduates and members of the University who are new to Oxford. It aims to offer help, advice and information, and the opportunity to meet others socially. Informal coffee mornings are held at 13 Norham Gardens every Wednesday in term, also on the Wednesday before term starts, the Wednesday after the end of term and during the summer holidays. Newcomers with children (0–4 years) meet every Friday in term 10.15 a.m. to 12 midday. Other term time activities include a Book Group, informal Conversation Group, and tours to colleges, museums, and other places of interest, also country walks and garden trips. Secondhand items can be bought on Wed. mornings 10.30 a.m. to 12 midday from the equipment room—open all year except for 2 weeks at Christmas and Easter. Visit our Web site: www.ox.ac.uk/staff. Situations Vacant

The Oxford Union: an interesting and challenging opportunity at the Oxford Union is offered to a suitably experienced person to develop its sponsorship programmes and explore new initiatives for fund-raising at this high profile and dynamic institution. The position would involve about one day's work a week on a flexible basis, working partly from home (computer skills essential), and partly from the Union's premises in Oxford. It might suit a recently retired person (male or female), with a background in sponsorship, institutional fund-raising, or business. Salary would reflect the part-time nature of the position, plus expenses and a percentage of the incremental income earned.
