Cameron Mackinstosh Award for New Writing

The New Writing Competition is open solely to Oxford University Students and aims to uncover the next generation of playwrights. A shortlist of four plays will be selected for a week's run at one of Oxford's student theatre venues in seventh week of Hilary Term 2004. The overall winner, as judged by an invited panel of leading theatre practitioners, will then receive the Cameron Mackintosh Award for New Writing. Previous winners of the prize are not eligible to apply. Any student wishing to enter an original piece of theatrical writing should submit a typewritten script marked with the author's name and college by the closing date of Friday, 7 November 2003.

Theatre Technician's Prize

The prize will be awarded for the best overall contribution made by a student of the University of Oxford to the technical and backstage aspects of student theatre in 2003--4. Applications should consist of a curriculum vitae and a covering letter explaining why the applicant believes his or her technical contribution has been outstanding. The prize will be judged by the University Drama Officer and the technical staff of the Playhouse, Old Fire Station, and Burton Taylor Theatres. Previous winners of the prize are not eligible to apply. The closing date for receipt of applications is Friday, 28 May 2004.

The prize will be awarded for the best portfolio of theatre reviews by a student while at the University of Oxford. Candidates must not have exceeded the twelfth term from their matriculation and previous winners of the prize are not eligible to apply. Each entrant should limit their portfolio to a maximum of eight reviews and attach details of their college, name, and term of matriculation. The closing date for the submission of portfolios to the University Drama Officer is Friday, 5 March 2004.
