GOODGER SCHOLARSHIP 2004

If suitable candidates present themselves, an election will be made in Trinity Term 2004 to a Mary Goodger Scholarship.

Goodger Scholarships are awarded to assist research into the causes and prevention of disease, with special reference to the study of disease in its early stages. They are open to all members of the University of Oxford. The scholarships are tenable for two years, but this period may be extended for a further year by the Board of Management. The upper limit of the award shall be the bottom point of the university lecturer scale and will be fixed at the discretion of the Board of Management, which may also contribute towards any special expenses incurred by a scholar in connection with his/her research, including university and college fees and dues incurred by a scholar reading for a research degree. The board has made a regulation that holders of the scholarships shall be required to work primarily in Oxford. Scholarships shall be tenable with other posts subject to the approval of the board.

Candidates must submit to the board a statement of their qualifications and of the course of research which they propose to pursue, together with such testimonials and references as they desire. Candidates are reminded that this is a scholarship and priority will be given to those candidates demonstrating excellence in previous research activities. Applications should be sent to the Secretary of the Medical Sciences Board, Medical School Offices, John Radcliffe Hospital, Headington, Oxford OX3 9DU, not later than Friday, 7 May 2004.
