Miscellaneous and Multidisciplinary

SCATCHERD EUROPEAN SCHOLARSHIPS 2003–4

Up to twelve Scatcherd European Scholarships will be available in 2003–4 for graduate and undergraduate students, who will continue to be registered for a degree at Oxford, to undertake study or research in another European country (including Russia and all countries to the west of the Urals, but not Turkey). The scholarships are tenable in any subject area and will not normally be awarded for a period of study of less than three months or more than one year.

The scholarships will cover the cost of any tuition or registration fees and provide a grant towards living costs, which is expected to be about £8,000 for a full year. The precise level of funding will be determined according to the proposed place of study and any funding which the student will continue to receive, such as Local Education Authority grant or funding from a Research Council. Students taking part in an exchange under the ERASMUS Scheme will not normally be eligible for Scatcherd European Scholarships.

Applicants are advised to contact the institution to which they wish to be attached before submitting the scholarship application form. Successful candidates will be required to obtain the approval of their college to study away from Oxford, and, where applicable, graduate students must also obtain dispensation from residence from their faculty board.

The closing date for applications will be Friday, 7 February 2003. Further information and application materials may be obtained from the International Office, University Offices, Wellington Square, Oxford OX1 2JD (telephone: (2)70241/(2)80487).
