CONFERMENT OF THE TITLE OF VISITING PROFESSOR

The Social Sciences Board has conferred the title of Visiting Professor in Science in Society on S.J. RAYNER (BA, PH.D. London), currently Programme Director of the ESRC Research Programme, Science and Society, in the Saïd Business School, for a period of two years from 1 January 2002.

INSTITUTE OF ARCHAEOLOGY

German classes for archaeologists

A week of intensive German classes for archaeologists, for beginners and intermediate learners, will be offered in the Institute of Archaeology in ninth week of Hilary Term (11–15 March). CHRIST CHURCH FESTIVAL ORCHESTRA

CHRIST CHURCH FESTIVAL ORCHESTRA will perform Fauré's Messe des Pêcheurs (with Oxford Girls' Choir) and Bruckner's Ninth Symphony (conductors: Richard Vendome and James Ross), at 8 p.m. on Friday, 1 March, in Christ Church Cathedral.
