PRESS OFFICE
The job demands a high degree of motivation and the ability to learn quickly about issues, from scientific discoveries and spin-out companies, to student funding and general higher education matters. The Press Office is also routinely involved in handling sensitive matters involving individual members of the University. Some traininglargely on the jobwill be given as necessary, but the successful candidate will bring at least one year's professional experience in journalism or public relations as well as a knowledge of current issues in the higher education sector. For candidates without relevant Press Office experience, the appointment may be made for a training period at administrative grade 1. Otherwise appointment will be made on the academic-related administrative grade 2 scale (salary £20,267£26,229).
The post is offered on a five-year rolling appointment. Responsibilities would include taking part in the `on-call' weekend duty rota.
