Decrees

The Personnel Committee of Council has made the following decrees, to come into effect on 5 October.

Decree (1): Appointment of fixed-term University Lecturer (non-medical) in Gene Delivery

Text of Decree (1)

Notwithstanding the provisions of Ch. VII, Sect. IV, § 3, cl. 3 (ii) (Statutes, 2000, p. 518), Council may appoint a University Lecturer (non-medical) in Gene Delivery for a period not exceeding five years to support the new Rhodes Professor of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutic Science.

Decree (2): Reconferment of the title of Visiting Professor (Professor F. Vollrath)

Text of Decree (2)

The title of Visiting Professor in Animal Behaviour is reconferred on Professor F. Vollrath, Professor of Zoology at the University of Aarhus, Denmark, for five years from 1 December 2001.

COMMITTEE ON STATUTES BEFORE THE PRIVY COUNCIL

Decrees

The Committee on Statutes before the Privy Council has made the following decrees, to come into effect on 5 October.

Decree (3): Consent to amendments to the Statutes of Christ Church

Explanatory note

The following decree records the consent of the University to amendments to college statutes as required under the provisions of the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge Act, 1923.

The effects of the amendments are to provide for the appointment of fixed-term studentships, and to enable the college to confer the title of Honorary Student.

Text of Decree (3)

The consent of the University is given to the amendments of Statutes XVII and XXI of Christ Church approved by the Governing Body on 13 June 2001, in so far as such consent is required by Section 7 (2) of the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge Act, 1923.

Decree (4): Consent to amendments to the Statutes of Keble College

Explanatory note

The following decree records the consent of the University to amendments to college statutes as required under the provisions of the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge Act, 1923.

The effects of the amendments are to permit the adoption of a `total returns' policy in respect of investments, and to facilitate the management of certain trust funds.

Text of Decree (4)

The consent of the University is given to the amendments of Statute XIII of Keble College approved by the Governing Body on 14 March 2001, in so far as such consent is required by Section 7 (2) of the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge Act, 1923.

Decree (5): Consent to amendments to the Statutes of New College

Explanatory note

The following decree records the consent of the University to amendments to college statutes as required under the provisions of the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge Act, 1923.

The effects of the amendments are to permit the Warden, with the concurrence of the Visitor, to take a period of sabbatical leave or to be absent on college business during term, and to allow the college to elect a fellow to act in the Warden's stead, should the Sub-Warden wish not to act, and to make the necessary consequential provisions.

The consent of the University is given to the amendments of Statutes II, IX, and X of New College approved by the Governing Body on 13 June 2001, in so far as such consent is required by Section 7 (2) of the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge Act, 1923.

Decree (6): Consent to amendment to the Statutes of St Hilda's College

Explanatory note

The following decree records the consent of the University to an amendment to college statutes as required under the provisions of the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge Act, 1923.

The effect of the amendment is to permit the adoption of a `total returns' policy in respect of investments.

Text of Decree (6)

The consent of the University is given to the amendment of the Statutes of St Hilda's College by the insertion of new Statute IX approved by the Governing Body on 13 June 2001, in so far as such consent is required by Section 7 (2) of the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge Act, 1923.
