CONGREGATION 13 November 2 p.m.

¶ Members of Congregation are reminded that written notice of any intention to vote against the resolutions at item 1 below or of any wish to speak or to ask a question concerning the Vice-Chancellor's Oration under item 2 below, signed in each case by at least two members of Congregation, must be given to the Registrar by noon on Monday, 5 November (see the Guide to Procedures in Congregation cited in the note at the end of `University Agenda').

1 Voting on Resolutions authorising expenditure from the Higher Studies Fund

(1) That the University be authorised to expend from the uncommitted balance in the part of the Higher Studies Fund earmarked for Social Studies the sum of £1m towards the cost of the library element of the further St Cross building development for Social Studies.

(2) That the University be authorised to expend from the unearmarked part of the Higher Studies Fund the sum of £100K as a contribution to the research-related initiatives to be carried out within the framework of the Oxford--Princeton collaboration.

(3) That the University be authorised to expend from the unearmarked part of the Higher Studies Fund a sum of up to £200K towards the cost of refurbishment of space for the incoming Rhodes Professor of Therapeutic Sciences and Clinical Pharmacology.

(4) That the University be authorised to expend from the unearmarked part of the Higher Studies Fund the sum of £38K as a contribution towards the cost of establishing a Centre for Experimental Photonics within the Department of Physics.

(5) That the University be authorised to expend from the unearmarked part of the Higher Studies Fund the sum of £36K towards the cost of academic support for the Phillip Wetton Professor of Astrophysics.


2 Presentation of Vice-Chancellor's Oration

The Oration delivered by Mr Vice-Chancellor on 2 October will be presented and may be discussed.
