GENERAL PURPOSES COMMITTEE OF COUNCIL

Decree

The General Purposes Committee of Council has made the following decree, to come into effect on 28 June.

Decree (1): Committee for the Careers Service

Explanatory note

The following decree, made by the General Purposes Committee of Council, on the recommendation of the Committee for the Careers Service, changes the composition and terms of reference of the latter committee. The composition of the committee is amended to substitute one of the Proctors or the Assessor for all three of them, in accordance with modern practice; to add representatives of each of the new academic divisions; and to broaden the range from which the representatives of employers may be co-opted. The period of membership of college representatives is increased from two years to five, in the interest of greater continuity.

The committee's terms of reference are updated to reflect the modern purpose and operation of the Careers Service, as set out in clauses 3, 5, and 6 of the decree.

Finally, the representation of the Proctors and the Assessor on the Executive Committee is changed in parallel with the change to their representation on the main committee.
