Volunteers needed for rabies vaccine study

Would you be willing to help in a study, which could benefit thousands of people in resource poor countries? Do you need protection against rabies for travel abroad? If so, you might consider taking part in our research study inwhich you would receive a course of rabies vaccine. Rabies is a viral infection, which is passed to humans through the bite of a rabid animal. Safe vaccines are available to protect the traveller and for treatment following a bite. They are in widespread use but they are expensive, and often cannot be afforded inthose countries where the vaccine is needed most. The Oxford Vaccine Group and the University Department of Tropical Medicine want to find a way of giving these vaccines that would make them more affordable and easier to give. You must be aged between 18–50 years and have never had rabies vaccine before. If you are interested and want more information please contact the Rabies Study Team on 01865 221068.

Applications, which are limited to graduate members of the University or recent graduates, should be sent, including a full c.v., and the names of 2 referees, to The Senior Tutor, CMRS, St Michael's Hall, Shoe Lane, Oxford OX1 2DP by Mon., 27 May.

There are openings to work on either a session basis, where you invigilate individual exam sessions based on your availability for work, or on a block booking basis. A block bookings option requires a commitment to work one of the following: full time for the 6 week exam period; specific weeks during the exam period; specific days in the week during the exam period. These options can be discussed in more details with the Deputy Clerk of Schools (Exams). The work involves laying out of question papers, completing relevant paperwork, and invigilating during the examination session.
