COMPUTING LABORATORY
Appointment of Acting Director
The Mathematical and Physical Sciences Board has appointed PROFESSOR R.P. BRENT,
MA, Professor of Computing Science and Fellow of St Hugh's College, as Acting Director
of the Computing Laboratory for Professor R.S. Bird, MA, Professor of Computing Science
and Fellow of Lincoln College, for Hilary and Trinity Terms 2002.

The University Offices will be closed for normal business from Saturday 22 December, to
Wednesday, 2 January inclusive.

UNIVERSITY MESSENGER SERVICE
The University Messenger Service will deliver to and make a collection of mail from
departments for delivery to departments and colleges during the morning of Friday, 21
December. The last delivery before the Christmas closure will be made at midday on the
same
day.
The service will then be suspended until it returns to full operation on Thursday, 3
January.

The Sheldonian Theatre will be closed for normal business from Friday, 21 December, to

SCHOOL OF ARCHAEOLOGY
German classes for archaeologists
A week of intensive German classes for archaeologists, for beginners and intermediate
learners, will be offered in the Institute of Archaeology in ninth week of Hilary Term
(1115 March). Enquiries and registration requests should be directed to the
