Oxford University Gazette, 2 May 2002: Appointments

Appointment of Project Assistant

This project will develop the new student record administration system, which is likely to be based on a commercial software package solution. The project is expected to last at least three years and will improve the quality of information about students (of all categories) to meet external and internal requirements and in line with Oxford's position as a major international university.

Applications are invited for the post of Project Assistant for the fixed term of three years in the first instance, to support the Student Records Project Manager. The post-holder will be expected to assist the project manager for the Student Records Project from inception through to implementation. Principal tasks will include, but will not be limited to, maintenance/creation of project plans, risk logs, change requests, budget spreadsheets, and weekly/ monthly reports, plus all other documentation required within the project office. The post-holder will also be responsible for the communication process from the project to the University and will assist with the creation of key project documentation, e.g. flowcharts from business process analysis exercises.

Experience required includes a record of fulfilling the above tasks within an IT project or programme office. Excellent skills also required with MS Office, MS Project and Visio. Knowledge of PRINCE 2 would be an advantage. The provision of training in specific areas will be considered if the individual possesses the right team-working skills, but does not have some of the required technical skills.

The post is on the academic-related grade 2 scale (salary £20,470–£26,491 per annum).

Applications in the form of a letter explaining how you think you meet the requirements of the post, a curriculum vitae, and the names of two referees should be sent to Ms J.M.
