Elections of ordinary members

Elections will be held on Thursday, 1 February to fill vacancies for ordinary members to hold office from the date of the election until the first day of Michaelmas Term 2001.

Law

Two ordinary members (vice Ms S.L. Bright and Dr M.J. Spence, resigned)

Literae Humaniores

One ordinary member (vice Dr J.H.W. Penney, resigned)

Nominations in writing by two electors will be received by the Head Clerk at the University Offices, Wellington Square, Oxford OX1 2JD, up to 4 p.m. on Monday, 8 January, and similar nominations by six electors up to 4 p.m. on Monday, 15 January. There is no special form but, in addition to the signatures of the nominators, nominations must state, in block capitals, the names and initials, and college (or, if no college, the department) of (1) the person nominated, and (2) each nominator.

CHANGES IN REGULATIONS

With the approval of the Educational Policy and Standards Committee of Council, and of the Social Sciences Board, the following changes in regulations made by the Board of the Faculty of Law will come into effect on 29 December.

Board of the Faculty of Law

Honour School of Jurisprudence

With effect from 1 October 2001 (for first examination in 2002)

In Examination Decrees, 2000, p. 240, after l. 35 insert:

`Candidates who have been awarded the Diploma in Legal Studies shall be examined in the same number of subjects as other candidates but shall not be required to repeat in the Final Honour School papers taken for the Diploma which would otherwise be compulsory.'

Corrigendum

There is an error in the date of effect given for the regulations made under the above headings, published in the Gazette of 7 December (p. 413). The regulations will come into effect on 22 December, and not, as was published, on 28 December.
