STATUTES APPROVED BY HER MAJESTY IN COUNCIL
Mr Vice-Chancellor has received a communication from the Clerk of Her
Majesty's Privy Council, stating that on 14 June 2000 Her Majesty was pleased
to approve the Statutes (1) establishing the Degree of Master of Fine Art, (2)
concerning changes to the College Contributions Scheme, and (3) concerning
the membership of Convocation, printed in Gazette, pp. 256, 333,
and 395 (approved by Congregation, pp. 298, 360, and 422).

DEPARTMENT OF EXPERIMENTAL PSYCHOLOGY
On the recommendation of the Psychological Studies Faculty
Board, the General Board has assigned the Department of
Experimental Psychology to P.E. BRYANT, MA, Fellow of Wolfson College
and Watts Professor of Psychology, for the period from 1 October
2000 until the appointment of a new head of department following
the incoming Professor of Psychology taking up office.

BRIAN THOMAS STYLES MEMORIAL PRIZE 2000
The Brian Thomas Styles Memorial Prize, which is awarded from time to time
for an outstanding D.Phil. thesis in the subject area of tropical or subtropical
plant taxonomy, has been awarded in 2000 to DR MARK CARINE, Pembroke
College, for his thesis `A systematic study of the southern Indian and Sri
Lankan Strobilanthinae (Acanthaceae)'.
