Volunteers Needed for HIV Vaccine Study

Would you be willing to assist with a Clinical Study aimed at developing a vaccine against HIV, the AIDS virus? Once final approval has been obtained from the Medicines Control Agency and the Central Oxford Research Ethics Committee, the trial will start and each participant will be immunised two or three times with the vaccine over a six week period. Volunteers should be healthy, aged 18--60 years, without any previous reactions to a vaccination, not at risk of HIV infection, and should be available for follow-up studies for at least seven months. This club exists to welcome to Oxford the partners and families of academic visitors and graduate students. Situations Vacant

University Offices—Pensions Office Visiting Officer (part-time): applications are invited for this post, which is attached to the Pensions Office. The duties are to give assistance and support as required to those former members of staff of the University in receipt of pensions and to undertake certain administrative duties concerning those in receipt of pensions. The successful candidate will be broadly conversant with current tax and benefit structures and will have (or will demonstrate an ability to acquire quickly) an understanding of the University's pension schemes so that general advice can be given as required. Additionally, access to the use of a car will be essential to enable visits to be made to rural locations. The post has been structured on the basis of a 14.5 hour week, but there will be flexibility in the arrangements for the delivery of these hours. The post is on the clerical and library grade 4 scale, with salary pro rata (40 per cent) of £13,532–£15,664 (under review). Oxford University Student Union has a vacancy for a part time Student Adviser. The Adviser supports the Vice-Presidents Welfare, Women, Graduates and Access and Academic Affairs in providing an impartial listening and advice service to all students at Oxford University.
