(b) that such a member may, at the discretion of the Vice-Chancellor, be deemed to have satisfied the requirements of this sub-section if in any year he or she has attended, but for good reason has been prevented from attending more than, eight meetings less than the number of any meetings which have been cancelled, or in the case of a person nominated to fill a casual vacancy has attended, but for good reason has been prevented from attending more than, such less number as shall have been calculated in proportion to eight by the method (mutatis mutandis) prescribed in proviso (a) above.'
9 This decree shall be effective from 1 October 2000.
