New diabetes trial `to cut' heart risks : Oxford scientists this month begin a major new five-year trial involving 5,550 patients with diabetes.

`Star dust' reveals origins of planets : New ultraviolet laser technology developed at the University is being used to analyse samples of minerals grown from star dust in order to provide information about how the planets were formed.

Oil studies from archives on show : A special exhibition of oil paintings at the Ashmolean Museum features studies of landscapes, cityscapes, and portraits, with many works depicting the history of the University, drawn from the Museum's own print room and picture archive.

Hodgkin dynasty claims another Oxford Chair : Dr Jonathan Hodgkin, FRS, of the Division of Cell Biology at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Cambridge, has been appointed as Professor of Genetics with effect from 1 February 2000.
