1 Decrees

Council has made the following decrees, to come into effect on 19 March.

List of the decrees:

Decree (1): Establishment of Donald Pollock Professorship of Chemical Engineering

Explanatory note

No notice of opposition having been given, Mr Vice-Chancellor will declare carried, without holding the meeting of Congregation on 9 March, the Statute establishing the Donald Pollock Professorship of Chemical Engineering, which was promulgated on 23 February (see `University Agenda' below). Council has accordingly made the following decree, which gives effect to consequential changes.

Decree (2): Composition of the Board of the Faculty of Theology

Explanatory note

The following decree, made on the recommendation of the Theology Board and with the concurrence of the General Board, changes the composition of the faculty board by increasing the number of ordinary members and reducing the number of official members, thereby reflecting more accurately the membership of the Faculty of Theology.

Decree (3): Establishment of Blaschko Supplementary Fund

Explanatory note

Mrs Mary Blaschko, the widow of the late Dr Karl Felix Hermann (Hugh) Blaschko, has most generously offered to the University the sum of £50,000 to supplement the Blaschko Visiting Research Scholarship Fund. The supplementary fund will enable the Board of Management for the Blaschko Visiting Research Fellowship to make available additional travel grants to the Blaschko Visiting Research Scholar and will in addition support publications and provide for the payment of appropriate supplementary expenses incurred in connection with the scholarship.

1. The University accepts with gratitude from Mrs Mary Douglas Blaschko the sum of £50,000 to create a fund to supplement the Blaschko Visiting Research Scholarship (`The Blaschko Supplementary Fund').

2. The supplementary fund shall be administered by the Board of Management for the Blaschko Visiting Research Scholarship.

3. The board shall use the income of the supplementary fund for the following purposes:

(a) for the provision of travel grants for the Blaschko Visiting Research Scholar;

(b) to support publications by the Blaschko Visiting Research Scholar;

(c) for the payment of appropriate supplementary expenses incurred in connection with the Blaschko Visiting Research Scholarship as approved by the board.

4. Income not spent from the supplementary fund in any year shall be carried forward for expenditure in subsequent years.

5. Council shall have power to alter this decree from time to time, provided that the main object of the supplementary fund, as defined in clause 1 above, is always kept in view.'

Decree (4): Remission of composition fees (Mrs S. Kenyon)

Notwithstanding the provisions of Ch. VIII, Sect. I, § 5, cl. 14 (Examination Decrees, 1998, p. 1107), Mrs S. Kenyon, St Peter's College, shall be required to pay fees at the `home' rate for her period of undergraduate study.

Decree (5): Remission of composition fees (Mr D.C. Marks)

Notwithstanding the provisions of Ch. VIII, Sect. I, § 5, cl. 14 (Examination Decrees, 1998, p. 1107), Mr D.C. Marks, St Hugh's College, shall be required to pay fees at the `home' rate for his period of postgraduate study.

Decree (6): Remission of fees (Dr V. Njemanze)

Notwithstanding the provisions of Ch. VIII, Sect. I, § 8, cl. 1 (Examination Decrees, 1998, p. 1112), Dr V. Njemanze, Clinical Medicine, shall be required to pay fees at the `home' rate for his period of postgraduate study.
