CONGREGATION 29 June

1 Promulgation of Statutes

Forms of Statutes were promulgated. No notice of opposition having been given, Mr Vice-Chancellor declared the preambles carried of the proposed Statutes (1) concerning new governance structures for the University, (2) transferring the name of Clifford Chance from the Professorship of European Law to the Professorship of Comparative Law, and (3) renaming the Professorship of Atmospheric Physics.

2 Declaration of approval of Statutes promulgated on 15 June

No notice of opposition having been given, Mr Vice-Chancellor declared the Statutes (1) concerning changes to certain senior posts in the central administration, and (2) concerning procedures in the event of the ill-health of Junior Members (pp. 1433–4) approved.

3 Declaration of approval of Special Resolution

That the operation of Tit. II, Sect. IV, cll. 3–14 (Statutes, 1997, pp. 9–10; Examination Decrees, 1998, pp. 1126–8) be suspended, and that the question that the statute making the main changes in the University's governance structures do pass be put immediately after this special resolution has been carried, or at the close of any debate on the statute, as the case may be.

4 Declaration of approval of Statute (1) promulgated on 29 June

No notice of opposition having been given, Mr Vice-Chancellor declared Statute (1), concerning new governance structures for the University (pp. 1323–30) approved.

5 Declaration of approval of Special Resolution

That the conferment of the Degree of Doctor of Civil Law by Diploma upon HIS EXCELLENCY PRESIDENT CARDOSO OF BRAZIL be approved.

CONGREGATION 29 June

Degree by Special Resolution

No notice to the contrary having been received under the provisions of Tit. II, Sect. vi, cl. 6 (Statutes, 1997, p. 15), the following resolution is deemed to have been approved at noon on 29 June.
