Degree by Special Resolution

1 Decrees

Decree (1): Establishment of Professorship of General Practice

Decree (2): Establishment of Norton Rose Professorship of Commercial and Financial Law

Decree (3): Norton Rose Professorship of English Law

Explanatory note

No notice of opposition having been given, Mr Vice-Chancellor will declare carried, without holding the meeting of Congregation on 4 November, Statutes

(1) establishing a Professorship of General Practice, (2) establishing a Norton Rose Professorship of Commercial and Financial Law, and (3) changing the title of the Norton Rose Professorship of English Law, which were promulgated on 14 October (see `University Agenda' below). Council has accordingly made the following decrees, which give effect to consequential changes.

The amendments specified in these decrees have been incorporated into Statutes, 1997 on the pages indicated by the references in square brackets, where they are shown as still being subject to the approval of Congregation. These decrees now confirm the amendments.

Decree (4): Redesignation of the Rank Foundation Professorship of Electro-optic Engineering

Explanatory note

No notice of opposition having been given, Mr Vice-Chancellor will declare carried, without holding the meeting of Congregation on 4 November, Statute (4) renaming the Rank Foundation Professorship of Electro-optic Engineering, which was promulgated on 14 October (see `University Agenda' below). Council has accordingly made the following decree, which gives effect to consequential changes.

Decree (5): Land at Marston

Explanatory note

The following decree removes from the care of the Curators of the University Parks two plots of land on the east bank of the River Cherwell which fall within a Site of Special Scientific Interest, a large part of which is in the care of the Estates Committee of the Curators of the University Chest. In future the plots will be leased to a tenant farmer who currently leases the surrounding land.
