HEBDOMADAL COUNCIL 25 May

1 Decrees

Council has made the following decrees, to come into effect on 12 June.

List of the decrees:

Decree (1): Establishment of a Faculty of Management

Explanatory note

No notice of opposition having been given, Mr Vice-Chancellor will declare carried, without holding the meeting of Congregation on 2 June, the Statute establishing a Faculty of Management, which was promulgated on 19 May (see `University Agenda' below). Council has accordingly made the following decree, which gives effect to consequential changes.

Associated changes in regulations are set out in `Examinations and Boards' below.

Decree (2): Remission of composition fees (Mr C.-T. Chien)

Notwithstanding the provisions of Ch. VIII, Sect. i, § 6, cl. 14 (Examination Decrees, 1997, p. 1099), Mr C.-T. Chien, Hertford, shall not be required to pay a composition fee for Hilary Term 1998.

Decree (3): Remission of composition fees from `overseas' to `home' rates (Mr A. Goryunov)

Notwithstanding the provisions of Ch. VIII, Sect. i, § 6, cl. 14 (Examination Decrees, 1997, p. 1099), Mr A. Goryunov, Christ Church, shall be required to pay composition fees at the `home' rate for the duration of his period of undergraduate study.

Decree (4): Remission of composition fees from `overseas' to `home' rates (Mr J. Qin)

Notwithstanding the provisions of Ch. VIII, Sect. I, § 6, cl. 14 (Examination Decrees, 1997, p. 1099), Mr J. Qin, Corpus Christi, shall be required to pay composition fees at the `home' rate for the duration of his period of study for the degree of D.Phil.

Decree (5): Consent to amendment to Statutes of St Hugh's College

The consent of the University is given to the amendment to Statute XII of St Hugh's College approved by the Governing Body on 11 March 1998, in so far as such consent is required by Section 7 (2) of the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge Act, 1923.

Note. The effect of the amendment is to empower the college to appoint an Investment Manager and to prescribe the latter's powers, duties, and terms of appointment.

2 Status of Master of Arts

Mr Vice-Chancellor reports that the status of Master of Arts under the provisions of Ch. V, Sect. v, cl. 1 (Statutes, 1997, p. 367) has been accorded to the following person who is qualified for membership of Congregation:
