College fees to go under new proposals from Ministers : The Secretary of State for Education and Employment, Mr David Blunkett, has announced new funding arrangements for Oxford and Cambridge which would signal the end of publicly funded college fees.

University unveils first group of `Distinguished Friends' : The University has announced the first group of `Distinguished Friends of Oxford'—a new honour recognising those who have made an outstanding effort in furthering the interests of the University.

Renovated bog gardens reopen : Visitors will be able to inspect the renovated Bog and Rock Gardens when the Lower Triangle of the Botanic Garden reopens on 1 April.

Chaucer expert to fill Tolkien English chair : Professor Paul Strohm, Professor of English and Medieval Studies at Indiana University, has been appointed to the J.R.R. Tolkien Professorship.

New Principal of Ruskin College : Mr Jim Durcan, a partner in a training and consultancy firm and Programme/ Client Director of Ashridge Management College, has been appointed Principal of Ruskin College.
