Candidates, in any subject, will normally have completed a first degree, be aged twenty-five or under at the starting date, and be in receipt of United Kingdom graduate awards covering the academic year 1997–8.

The scholarships, tenable for two years, will augment the value of whatever award is already held for 1997–8 to that of an award from a government agency, includ- ing full fees. Senior Scholars are entitled to a free room in college, and to dine at high table once a week in full term.

Further particulars and application forms may be obtained from the College Secretary, St John's College, Oxford OX1 3JP, to whom completed application forms should be sent as soon as possible, and not later than 24 January.
