President Mandela looks forward to `unfettered' relations with Oxford : President Nelson Mandela told members of the University that South Africa's association with Oxford was of the greatest importance and backed a new bursary scheme for South Africans, when he attended a ceremony of welcome in Convocation House on Friday.

New school wins approval of dons and business : Members of Congregation have reaffirmed decisively their support for plans to establish a world-class University of Oxford Business School, voting by 1,280 to 237 in favour of the proposals in a postal ballot.

State school pupils get `taste' of college life : More than sixty students from state-maintained schools enjoyed experiencing university life at the first Lampl Summer School run by the Colleges Admissions Office last week (6–11 July).

Oxford has seven new British Academy Fellows : Seven Oxford academics from a range of different disciplines have been appointed to Fellowships of the British Academy (FBA) in this year's annual election.
