Eight honorary degrees conferred at Encaenia : The University honoured outstanding contributions to religion, law, classics, architecture, literature, economics, medicine, and chemistry at the Encaenia on Wednesday, 19 June.

Anglo-Japanese industry link-up : Senior executives from twenty-one leading Japanese companies, research institutes and government agencies were welcomed to Oxford on 9 June for a UK–Japan High Technology Industry Forum.

Cleaner car engine `still as efficient' : `The history of the automobile engine from 1970 to 2014' was the title of the twenty-second Maurice Lubbock Memorial Lecture on 31 May, delivered by Dr Derek Crabb, Director of Powertrain at Rover.

Oxford celebrates ten years of Soros-FCO scholars : More than 120 scholars, academic supervisors, friends, and benefactors gathered in the shade of Magdalen College's great plane tree on Sunday, 16 June, to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Soros-Chevening FCO Scholarship scheme which has brought more than 500 scholars from central and east Europe to Oxford since 1986.

P&O endows new Chair of Management Studies : The University has established a new chair of Management Studies, endowed by the Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company.
