Mansfield College

A comprehensive history of Mansfield College---Mansfield College: its Origin, History and Significance, by Elaine Kay---was published by Oxford University Press on 23 May. The book describes the transformation of the college from being a pioneering Nonconformist theological college at the end of the nineteenth century to its present position as a full college within the University, pioneering initiatives in which theological and non-theological members work in interdisciplinary partnership.

Macintosh Operator: OUP's Cartographic Unit is seeking a part-time (min. 2 days p.w.) contract worker to process place-name data for its highly successful range of atlases. Fellow or Lecturer in English, History, or Law required to act as part-time Academic Adviser to the Oxford Programme for Undergraduate Studies for 1996--7. The work is almost entirely concentrated in Week --1 and Week 0 to reduce conflicts with other duties, and is expected to require a max. of 15 hours per term. The successful candidate will have extensive contacts within the University, be efficient and well-organised, and have a min. of 3 years' teaching experience. Remuneration is on a pro-rata consultancy basis and is expected to be c. £6,000--£7,000 for the a.y. 1996--7. Closing date: 28 June.
