Fees and Funding
Eligibility for the Scheme
Students must be paying the £3,375 fee in 2011/12 (£1,640 for eligible year abroad students) to qualify for the Oxford Opportunity Bursary. For students on the old fees regime there is a separate scheme called the Oxford Bursary; students should contact their College directly about this.
Courses
You must be studying either:
- your first undergraduate degree
- PGCE or
- Graduate Entry Medicine Course and be in your first year of study. You will only be entitled to an Oxford Opportunity Bursary (OOB) in your first year.
- Medical Students will not be eligible for an OOB during the NHS funded Clinical years of their studies
Status
In order to receive an OOB you must be entitled to, and have applied for, maintenance support from the UK government. You are unlikely to be entitled if:
- you are a UK student who has undertaken a previous undergraduate degree and you are undertaking further undergraduate study; or
- you are from the Isle of Man or Channel Islands, unless you receive maintenance support from the UK government, as you should receive funding from your own government; or
- you are an EU student, unless you receive maintenance support from the UK government. Please note if you are only entitled to receive a tuition fee loan this does not count as maintenance support and you will not be entitled to an OOB; or
- you are an overseas student, unless you receive maintenance support from the UK government.
