Oxford support for students who started their course on or after 2012

The University has generous tuition fee reductions and non-repayable bursaries for full-time UK and EU students with qualifying household incomes who started their course on or after 2012.

Tuition Fee Reductions

Full-time UK and EU students with household incomes of £25,000 or less are eligible to be assessed for a reduction in their tuition fees.

The bandings below show tuition fee levels at Oxford, dependent upon household income before tax:

UK and EU students are able to take out a loan for the full tuition fee amount and do not have to pay this cost upfront.

*The enhanced first year tuition fee reduction is intended to reduce the student loans of first year undergraduates from lower income households, and does not extend to PGCE and Graduate Entry Medicine students.

Oxford Bursaries

The University has a generous bursary scheme available to cover some of the costs associated with living in Oxford, and also to enable students to take advantage of the many opportunities Oxford has to offer.

Full-time UK and EU students who started their course in 2012/13 or 2013/14 and have a household income of £42,611 or less are eligible to be assessed for a non-repayable Oxford Opportunity Bursary.

The start up payment is intended to help first year undergraduate students with the costs associated with starting University, and does not extend to PGCE and Graduate Entry Medicine students.

Eligibility for tuition fee reductions and bursaries

Students must have started their course in 2012 or 2013 to qualify for the Oxford Tuition Fee Reduction and/or Oxford Bursary schemes which are detailed on this page.

Courses

You must be studying either:

  • your first undergraduate degree
  • PGCE (bursaries are only awarded to PGCE students whose full entitlement to government maintenance support (including a government teacher training bursary or affiliated scholarship) amounts to less than £9,000)
  • Graduate Entry Medicine
  • Pre-clinical Medicine
  • Clinical Medicine

Status

In order to receive a tuition fee reduction and/or an Oxford Bursary you must be entitled to support from the UK government, and you must have been financially assessed by your funding agency. You are unlikely to be entitled if:

  • you are a UK student who has completed a previous undergraduate degree and you are undertaking further undergraduate study; or
  • you are from the Isle of Man or Channel Islands, unless you receive maintenance support from the UK government, as you should receive funding from your own government; or
  • you are an overseas student, unless you receive maintenance support from the UK government.
