Defer repayment on previous US student loans
If you are taking US student loans at Oxford, we will report your enrolment so that repayment of any previous US student loans can be deferred.
If you are not taking out loans whilst at Oxford, please email us.loans@admin.ox.ac.uk to ask us to report your enrolment. You will need to provide your Social Security Number and date of birth so that we can add your details to the National Student Clearinghouse, which is used by all guarantors and most major student loan lenders and servicers (including servicers for Perkins, private/alternative, and institutional loans), as well as the Department of Education, to check student enrolment information. Enrolment information is available to lenders within 3 to 5 days of an update being made.
We will only complete paper deferment forms in exceptional circumstances and to do so, we require written confirmation from the lender that they are not registered to use the Clearinghouse.
