The Open Society Foundations Oxford Scholarships see the continuation of the longstanding relationship between the University of Oxford and the network of Open Society Foundations (OSF). The Scholarships aim to provide opportunities for postgraduate study for students who demonstrate both academic excellence and the potential to become leaders, decision-makers and opinion formers in their own countries.

Am I eligible?

The Scholarships will support students who are citizens of and ordinarily resident in Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kosovo, and Montenegro. Applicants should be intending to return to their country following their studies.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate both academic excellence and the potential to become leaders, decision makers and opinion formers. Scholars must commit to returning to their home country and making a contribution to society there.

What does it cover?

100% of University and college fees, a grant for living costs, flight (to and from the UK), language test costs, visa costs, pre-sessional summer school.

How do I apply?

Contact your local coordinator who will assess your eligibility.  If you are eligible, they will provide you with a reference number which will enable your application fee to be waived.  Please send this number to www.graduate.ox.ac.uk/ask along with your full name, email address and course you are applying for to request the waiver.  Once you have received confirmation that the application fee has been waived, you can submit your application.

Please select Open Society Foundations Oxford Scholarships in the Funding Section of the University's Graduate Application Form. You must also complete and upload a supplementary statement (form available from your local coordinator) with your application. Please print a copy of your application and supporting materials and send it to your local coordinator by 20 January 2012.

In order to be considered for this scholarship, you must submit your application for graduate study by 20 January 2012 and you must have secured a place on your chosen programme of study by the expected final decision date (17 March 2012). Applications with an outstanding admissions decision after this date, or applications which are re-evaluated against the later March deadline field, are not eligible for scholarship consideration.

How will I know if I have been successful?

All of the shortlisted candidates have now been interviewed and will be informed of the results of the interviews by email.

If you have not been called for interview then your application has been unsuccessful.
