External scholarships
External scholarships are managed by external organisations; not by the University of Oxford or the colleges. They will have their own application processes and the closing dates will be different from the University's application deadlines. You should therefore contact the relevant organisation directly to make enquiries about submitting an application for such awards. The Aga Khan Foundation provides a number of scholarships for graduate study (mainly Masters, but DPhil's are also considered) to students from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Egypt, India, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgystan, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Madagascar, Mozambique, Syria, France, Portugal, the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada. |

| Alternative Guide to Postgraduate Funding |
Oxford has subscribed to the Alternative Guide to Postgraduate Funding. Please complete the online request form and we will send you the Guide by email (in PDF format). This award-winning guide was written by two UK based PhD students who between them have won over £45,000 from 52 different charity awards. It will show you where to find charities, how to approach them and how to complete strong applications in the correct manner. It contains model personal and financial statements and over 100 links to voluntary sector funding sources. The Alternative Guide is independently published by GradFunding. |

The Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds is a public foundation based in Germany that promotes basic research in biomedicine. It offers two to three year PhD Fellowships to outstanding young scientists (aged 27 or under) to nationals of all countries to undertake research in a leading laboratory in Europe. The fellowships comprise a monthly stipend and the foundation also provides support for participation in scientific conferences as well as non-monetary support (e.g. peronal support networks). Apply by 1 February, 1 June or 1 October of each year. |

The Chevening Scholarship scheme is funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) in the United Kingdom. Significant contributions are also made by UK universities, the private sector, other government departments and devolved administrations. The Scholarships are offered in over 130 countries and are generally awarded for one-year Master's courses. They enable talented graduates and young professionals who are identified as the potential leaders of tomorrow to develop strong links with the UK and with each other in a global network, at the same time as becoming familiar with the UK. |

This foundation offers grants, bursaries and emergency grants to female graduates from the UK and overseas who are studying in the UK. |

Google Europe & Israel Scholarship for Students with Disabilities |
Candidates must: be a disabled student or have a mental health or long-term health condition; be enrolled in a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD programme (or equivalent); be enrolled in a university in Europe or Israel; be studying Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Informatics or a closely related technical field. The scholarship is for EUR7,000. |

The Islamic Development Bank (IDB) offers 3-year fully funded DPhil scholarships in science and technology to applicants from IDB member countries. Applicants must be currently attached to a scientific, academic and/or research institution in their home country and meet the IDB's eligibility criteria (published on their website). Application forms must be submitted to your home country's Office of the IDB Governor/IDB designated office by December 31 of the year before you wish to start graduate study at Oxford. Successful candidates must commit to returning to their home country on completion of their DPhil. |

Lord Mayor's Educational Trust Fund for Refugee Scholars |
Funding available from the City Council's trust fund to advance the education of graduate level or post graduate level overseas students who have refugee status at institutions in the city of Oxford. Colt Foundation Fellowships in Occupational/Environmental Health |
The Foundation considers applications for funding high quality research projects in the field of occupational and environmental health, particularly those aimed at discovering the cause of illnesses arising from conditions at the place of work. The Victor Pinchuk Foundation has launched a new project that will fund Ukrainian students to study for a Master's course in a range of fields at the University of Oxford. Scholarships will fund up to 60% of the total cost of study (up to a maximum of $50,000) in the areas of environmental and ecology studies, law and public administration. |

The society offers awards of £4,000 to nationals of the United Kingdom and Spain engaged in postgraduate studies relating to links between those two countries. Closing date for applications will be 31st January in the year for which the grant is sought. Awards will be presented in April or May at the Spanish Embassy in London. |

Scholarships from the Cusanuswerk consist of financial support for studies as well as an interdisciplinary education programme that encourages discussion about science and faith, society and church. Enrolment or authorisation to study at PhD level at a state-approved university within the European Union is a requirement to be eligible for this scholarship. |

TALENTIA Fellowship Program is an initiative by the Ministry for Innovation, Science and Enterprise in Andalusia, Spain (at present the Ministry of Economy, Innovation and Science) that provides postgraduate scholarships to students from Andalusia allowing them to study abroad in selected institutions. |
Africa

The Beit Trust offers annually a small number of Scholarships for graduate studies or research to graduates who are domiciled in Malawi, Zambia or Zimbabwe (the beneficial area). The duration of the Scholarships is normally for up to three years. |

Canon Collins Trust provides scholarships to students from South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Swaziland, Lesotho, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Angola and Mozambique who wish to pursue a graduate degree (mainly Master's degrees of one or two years) in either the United Kingdom or South Africa. |

The purpose of the Fund is to promote educational development in Sudan. The Trust supports individual Sudanese students studying for a graduate course in the UK, but who intend to return to Sudan at the end of their studies. |

The Anglo-Thai Society offers a number of awards for educational excellence to Thai students studying in the UK. These are open to final year DPhil students and include an award of £300. The General Sir John Monash Foundation offers up to eight Scholarships per year for postgraduate study at a non-Australian university. Only Australian citizens graduating from Australian universities are eligible to apply. The Scholarships provide funding of AUD $50,000 per year for a maximum of three years. |
