The industrialisation of England in the 19th and early 20th centuries brought about great changes in the living conditions of working people in both town and country. This weekend will explore the effects on housing of the birth of the industrial economy, and will discuss ways in which houses were improved, and ways of life changed, as the infrastructure and products of industrial society became available to the working classes, and under the influence of middle class ideals.
