Rwanda’s Presidency of the African Union comes to an end in January. In this lecture, Rwandan High Commissioner to London, Yamina Karitanyi, takes this as the starting point for a consideration of how Africa’s perspectives will change global diplomacy in the twenty-first century. She will look at ways in which trade and aid should be seen from beyond a donor’s perspective; she will offer a consideration of the way in which migration will affect foreign relations through the century; and she will offer thoughts on the way in which regional and continental integration across Africa may change the way in which the continent is seen globally, and the role it can play.
