Dr Christine Guth is a leading scholar on Japanese visual and material culture as well as on the trans-national history of collecting and display. In this lecture she will discuss a lacquer teabowl by Ogawa Haritsu (1663‒1747) and what the unusual use of materials tells us about the Japanese tea ceremony in the 1700s.
