Tony Hayward is an established artist and publisher, who lectures at several art institutions, including the Royal College of Arts and the Camberwell College of Arts. Hayward's connection with the Pitt Rivers Museum goes back over more than a decade. In the late 1990's he was invited to collect artefacts for the exhibition 'Transformations: The Art of Recycling' which was shown at the Museum in 2000. He curates the current exhibition 'Distantly Relative' at the Museum, featuring work by goldsmithing, silversmithing, metalwork and jewellery students from the Royal College of Art. This fascinating illustrated talk will discuss his collecting and publishing, the 'Distantly Relative' exhibition and working with RCA students within the context of the Museum.
