Land plants evolved from aquatic ancestors at least 470 million years ago. Liam’s laboratory has been using genetics to discover how these ancient pioneers developed the rooting structures that were essential for survival on the inhospitable land of the Palaeozoic Earth. This talk will demonstrate how understanding this unique event in the history of life may be useful.
