David Briggs, one of the finest organists of his time, plays his own transcription of Mahler’s majestic Resurrection Symphony (No. 2). In the glorious acoustic of the Merton College Chapel, and playing the chapel’s new Dobson organ, this promises to be a spectacular performance. He is joined by soprano Rachel Bowden and mezzo-soprano Grace Durham, and the joint choral forces of the Choir of Merton College, the Kodaly Choir, and the Oxford Bach Choir, conducted by Benjamin Nicholas. This concert is generously sponsored by the Morris-Venables Charitable Foundation.
