Joseph Haydn's symphony No. 92 is considered by many to be one of the greatest musical compositions ever written. The work was premiered in Oxford in 1791 and is now popularly known as the 'Oxford Symphony'. This lecture explains why this masterpiece was performed in Oxford in a story of politics and revolution which spans Europe.
