Haydn: Harmonie-Messe

Haydn’s final Mass setting—considered by many to be his finest—brings to the fore the wind section of the classical orchestra, who are also the sole focus of Gounod’s delightful miniature symphony. The concert opens with Haydn’s joyous setting of the Te Deum, composed in honour of the Empress Marie Theresa, and two sacred choral gems by Mozart.
