Please note that this production deals with issues of sexual assault, suicide, and violence.

'Women bring to ev'ry man the same defection, even their love's debauched by vanity, or flattery. Flowers alone are chaste.'

Benjamin Britten's inaugural chamber opera, a meditation on darkness and desire, invites us to witness the worst of human experience, provoking us to challenge the institutions that are complicit in acts of sexual violence, and the unobtainable ideal of chastity that these institutions perpetuate.

A deeply disturbing, but necessary, production, The Rape of Lucretia promises to be one of the most powerful theatrical highlights of the year.
