Regional Liaison Office

The Regional Liaison Office, working in collaboration with University departments, is responsible for developing the University's regional strategy, strengthening its links with regional organisations and businesses, and maximising its contribution to the local, regional and national economy.

The Regional Liaison Office is the focal point within the University for links with organisations such as:

  • South East England Development Agency (SEEDA)
  • Government Office for the South East (GOSE)

Regional Liaison Director, Joe Barclay, has built up strong relationships with key organisations within Oxfordshire’s Business Community. His positions include:

  • Oxfordshire Economic Partnership - Board Member - a network of public and private sector partners committed to achieving success for the economy of Oxfordshire
  • Oxfordshire Enterprise Hub - Member of Steering Group - a SEEDA-funded hub designed to encourage economic growth through network support to entrepreneurs
  • Oxford Strategic Partnership - Member of Steering Group - a partnership of key local organisations and individuals who aim to improve the quality of life across the city by providing direction for the city’s future, responding to local priorities and engaging more effectively with local concerns.

Events

Oxford at Saïd: Latest Research in a Nutshell - a series of seminars aimed at providing professionals, University staff and students with an informal yet informative overview of current issues.

The series brings together leading academics from across the University to discuss their research in everyday language.  The seminars provide a forum for dialogue between a non-specialist audience and leading researchers in their fields.  They are seen as a valuable outreach activity, enhancing social and economic growth within the Oxford business community.

Topics cover a variety of disciplines and research areas and past subjects have included cancer research, business history, biological viruses, business taxation, complex systems, the cosmos, artificial intelligence, emerging markets, web 3.0, climate change, stem cell research, monetary policy, software, the environment, biotechnology and nanotechnology.

Venturefest

Venturefest - Oxfordshire’s annual conference and exhibition for enterprise, innovation and the commercialisation of new technology has a reputation as one of the most influential forums of its kind.
