Lesser-spotted sciences day
This free introduction to university-taught science subjects takes place on Thursday 26 September between 10am-4pm at our Department of Computer Science.
|
|
|
There will be sessions about Computer Science, Earth Sciences, Engineering and Materials Science, plus a talk about careers in science, a mock interview and a college tour. This is open primarily to year 13 (but also year 12) students from UK schools, who are unsure what to apply for at university. Students must be taking A-level (or equivalent) Maths and Physics and be on track to achieve at least AAA. Please register on the Computer Science website.

Tower poetry competition
The 2014 Christopher Tower poetry competition will be launched on National Poetry Day – Thursday 3 October - full details from www.towerpoetry.org.uk on that day.

On Monday 30 September Earth-Quiet, the anthology from the 2012 Summer School will be published - the work of 13 UK poets aged 18-23 - www.towerpoetry.org.uk/events.

Classics in the Community
Booking for our Classics in the Community conference is now open. This will take place on Saturday 30 November at Corpus Christi College, Oxford.
|
We are also pleased to announce two competitions for under 19s.
The first is this year's Iris fiction competition, about merging ancient myths with the modern world.
The second is our first ever art competition! We are looking for artwork which explores the idea of mixing a classical myth with a modern setting.
The deadline for both competitions is Friday 20 December 2013.
