St John's College is academically one of Oxford's most successful colleges. Attracting students from a wide range of backgrounds, it enjoys a lively, stimulating and supportive atmosphere. The college believes that the link between teaching and research is extremely important and has a large number of research students and Junior Research Fellows.
Founded in 1555 by Sir Thomas White, a wealthy London merchant, the college occupies extensive grounds in the heart of Oxford, with award-winning architecture and some of the most beautiful gardens in the city.
