The Quadrangle The Rectangle The Logo Placement

The Rectangle

Secondary brand device

The rectangle shown right is the secondary form of the brand mark and should only be used when vertical space is restricted. The height is half that of the quadrangle.

The positive version shown right is for normal use on white or light coloured backgrounds and light, uncomplicated photographic backgrounds.

The minimum size for this version is where X=12 mm (or 24% scale).

Reversal version

Reversal version

The positive version shown above has been modified for use on dark or photographic backgrounds by the inclusion of a keyline, as shown right. This keyline has been set within the reversal version and should not be replaced by 'faux' versions using the positive brand mark detailed above.

Where the secondary brand device appears on the web against a solid background of Oxford blue, it may be permitted to use the device without the usual reverse version keyline if the keyline appears too dominant on the page.

The minimum size for this version is the same as detailed above, for the positive version.

Please do not use any reversal versions on light or white backgrounds.

Small positive version

Small positive version - rectangle

There are small versions of the brand mark in which the elements have been specially emboldened for clear reproduction at small sizes.

The maximum size for the small version of the rectangle is where X=11.5 mm (or 23% scale). The minimum size small version of the rectangle is where X=7.5 mm (or 15% scale).

Please do not use any small versions over 23% scale.

Small reversal version

There are small versions of the reversal version shown above. The same minimum and maximum sizes apply to these as to the small positive versions detailed above.

Black-only

Rectangle black

In print media where only black is available (such as press advertisement or black and white laser printing) it is acceptable touse the brand in black. However, it is important that the black artwork versions are used, as use of the Oxford blue artwork versions could result in a half-tone grey being produced.

Please note: do not print letterheads in colour on a laser printer or inkjet as the colour of the brand will not be right. Please print in black using the black artwork versions.

Special ink, CMYK and black-only artwork is provided for all of these quadrangle versions. University members of staff can download the artwork files from the Downloads section.
